Psychedelic Somatic Psychotherapy

Deep within our subconscious are emotional wounds that make the present moment look and feel as though we’re reliving our past. Our past traumas and wounds can serve as programming for what becomes self-perception and an understanding for how the world works. It not only shapes our sense of self, but it dictates our actions, and emotions beyond our conscious control.

In traditional forms of talk therapy our best management strategy when addressing these underlying challenges is to simply learn to cope with them.

The Psychedelic Somatic Interactional Psychotherapy (PSIP) model, shifts the focus to working with a person’s subconscious programming embedded in their nervous system. Your body becomes the preferred vehicle to release unprocessed trauma.

The PSIP model is characterized by its highly interactive and relational nature, delving into the processing of wounds within the therapeutic relationship while under the influence of Ketamine/Cannabis, rather than in post-session reflection.

The objective is not to construct additional coping mechanisms but to address the root cause, freeing individuals from the perpetual need to manage or cope with their wounds.

The PSIP model diverges significantly from the conventional model of Psychedelic Therapy, known as the "sitter" model. In this traditional setup, clients undergo their psychedelic experience with minimal interaction from the therapist, often wearing an eye mask and listening to music, while the practitioner merely holds space for their journey. This limited engagement leaves untapped opportunities for healing on the table, setting it apart from the dynamic and transformative nature of PSIP.

The role of the body in Psychedelic Somatic Psychotherapy:

“If you are looking to engage psychedelics as a medicine for working with mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, dissociation, addiction, PTSD, complex relational trauma or existential concerns, you’ll want an individual, one-on-one, psychotherapy setting with a trained clinician. We reliably see that the processing and individual focus required for deep personal healing is simply not available in a group setting. Your system will naturally limit the depth of your work if you know you are in a group of people all needing time and attention from a lay practitioner.”
